Furthermore, it's important to highlight that this is a 'bottom-up' processing group. Instead of verbally reprocessing anxiety and past traumas, we'll focus on real-time regulation. This approach equips you with the tools to feel secure and empowered within your body, establishing new patterns of empowered responses. This can be a transformative and disconfirming experience to anxiety and trauma.  We need to feel safe in the body to believe it.

Each exercise is meticulously crafted to address somatic reactivity while also imparting practical self-defense techniques. These activities are carried out in a cooperative manner with a partner, ensuring they are trauma-informed. As Bessel van der Kolk astutely observed, martial arts could be the most effective treatment for traumatic stress. This learning experience is akin to the teaching style in Karate Kid, 'wax on, wax off.' You are absorbing self-defense skills without even realizing it. It's worth emphasizing that most participants find the sessions enjoyable, reporting a heightened sense of relaxed alertness.
