Kali Connection Therapy Facilitator (Basics) Training
What You Get
- Filipino Regulation Sticks
- Course materials, including videos
- Opportunity to process your somatic secondary or vicarious trauma and rewire your own somatic trauma

Description

Kali Connection Therapy (KCT) invites therapists and clients into an experience that goes beyond traditional methods, creating a deeply embodied sense of safety, connection, and empowerment. Through rhythmic, bilateral stimulation exercises, KCT offers a dynamic way to regulate the nervous system, foster co-regulation, and deepen attunement—all while cultivating an empowering connection to the body. This practice uniquely blends nervous system regulation with the art of self-defense, drawing on Filipino Martial Arts to provide a tangible sense of self-protection and resilience.

Unlike typical trauma therapies, KCT creates a powerful, “disconfirming” experience for trauma survivors, instilling a felt sense of security from the inside out. Clients feel empowered through movement and connection, often eager to share the positive shifts they experience and integrate this transformative practice into their daily lives. Engaging in KCT feels less like traditional therapy and more like a liberating exploration of personal strength, resilience, and joy. For therapists, KCT not only enhances client outcomes but also offers a pathway to regulate their own nervous systems, helping manage vicarious stress while strengthening their therapeutic presence.

Please note, if a therapist has significant unprocessed somatic trauma, certification may take longer. KCT requires practice to eliminate tension in their own stress response system so they can fully attune to the client without transmitting activation. Becoming a KCT Certified practitioner involves correcting clients in a way that enables them to feel somatic agency in their new skills. Typically, it takes about three months of bi-weekly practice for therapists to be ready to work with clients. If additional supervision is necessary, it will be provided at a reduced rate.

This training is designed for therapists; however, on occasion, individuals who are not certified therapists may be granted permission to pursue certification.

Training Overview

KCT Basics
-Master foundational exercises, including the top tap series, retraction exercise, and regulating down tap series.
-Learn how to work from a play state, inviting curiosity and connection rather than a reactive fight-or-flight response.

Trauma and Nervous System Regulation
-Understand trauma’s impact on the body with insights from Polyvagal Theory, the Neurosequential Model, and Interpersonal Neurobiology.
-Learn techniques to distinguish between safety and unsafety and discern authentic connection from dopamine-driven impulses.

Bottom-Up vs Top-Down Responses
-Discover the balance between reflexive (bottom-up) and controlled (top-down) responses, focusing on adrenaline, acetylcholine, and the importance of deliberate processing in KCT.

Emotional Regulation and Anger Expression
-Develop skills to help clients regulate emotions, express anger safely, and enhance resilience, creating space for intentional choice over habitual reactions.
Managing Sympathetic Activation and Dorsal Shutdown
-Learn techniques like the 40 BPM method to help clients regulate when faced with heightened sympathetic states or dorsal shutdown, promoting safety and calming regulation.
Expanding the Window of Tolerance
-Employ pendulation exercises to broaden clients' capacity to manage stress, encouraging stability in high-tension moments.

Mindful Awareness in Somatic Work
-Practice two meditative KCT exercises that cultivate integration, regulation, and embodied wisdom, fostering mindful presence in sessions.

Empowerment Warrior Template
-Integrate the Warrior template, a framework for resilience and courage, through state-inducing postures, KCT gestures, and meditative practices.
-Learn how to establish a Daily Trauma Hygiene Protocol, empowering clients to actively engage in personal rewiring and ongoing resilience.

This training provides therapists with the tools to not only support their clients in profound ways but to experience their own healing journey. The skills gained will equip practitioners to create transformative spaces that nurture safety, agency, and embodied healing.
